Guangzhou, the capital city of Guangdong Province, has the nickname ‘the City of Goat’. As a city of historic and cultural significance, it is the largest industrial and commercial city and the largest important and export port in South China. It enjoys a warm humid climate all year around, and flowers blossom in all four seasons, hence its’ other nickname "City of Flowers". There are over 150 historical sites and many places of interest, such as modern skyscrapers and it has many opportunities for shopping. CITIC Plaza is currently the eighth tallest building in the world.

It has a population of between 8 to 13 million people, depending on what areas you include. Guangzhou (广州) is a large industrial city on the banks of the Pearl river. The city was known to westerners as Canton during the period of foreign occupation and still has a strong expatriate community today. Originally settled in the 3rd century BC the city grew in importance over the millenniums. The city is the heart of southern Chinese culture and is a major import and export trading hub. Many overseas Chinese trace their heritage to this city.
